The eHandbook for Child Welfare is an online tool kit for child welfare professionals, including a variety of work methods, forms and checklists. The tools include different ways to carry out child welfare work and are meant to be used at different stages of the process.
Working methods
The eHandbook presents a number of working methods and guidelines, such as on preliminary child welfare assessments, taking into care, substitute care and after-care. There are also descriptions of each work method written by designated experts. Professionals are encouraged to try out new methods of working and to get more information and education.
Forms
Forms that have been prepared in accordance with the Child Welfare Act are a way to standardise child welfare documentation at the national level. The forms have been produced under the direction of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The forms in the eHandbook are printable documents in Word and PDF formats.
Checklists
Checklists facilitate working with child welfare clients. Some of the checklists help in making sure that every aspect has been taken into account in the child welfare process. Other checklists include questions and viewpoints that professionals in the field should consider and keep in mind.
