Sosiaaliportti is an online gateway to information for social work professionals in Finland.
The service collects and disseminates a wide variety of online information on social welfare issues, provides support to professionals, gives greater visibility to actors in the field and offers professionals a forum for networking.
Sosiaaliportti is targeted especially at social workers and other professionals and leading officials in the social sector and is desinged from the practitioner's perspective.
Aims
Sosiaaliportti is an innovation service for professional activity and a continuous development project.
The site supports (tacit and explicit) knowledge exchange between professionals and encourages peer support.
The service is national, free of charge, open to all web users. Sosiaaliportti aims to strengthen the status and image of social work in Finland.
Background
Sosiaaliportti was created as part of the eConsultation project (2001–2004), funded by the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The portal was launched in March 2005. It is published by Meteor CMS and maintained by the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).
